A Trio of...

Moo's and Distress Stains were used to make this card. I even got to ink up some new 7Gypsies stamps that my crafty pal Kathy gave me as a present. The technique is one I read about ages ago in the Craft Stamper magazine and the sketch from The Sweet Shop seems to fit the technique perfectly and as the focal point I made 3 Moo's for the current challenge over at Moo Mania.

Craftathon 2013

Well I managed 7 days of my self challenge 'being square' but the last couple of days I have been crafting with a few of my pals over at CraftBubble forum. We have an annual gathering and this year they came to my home town. What fun we had and there was some what of a craft frenzy on Saturday. Of course now I have a list of stash I just need to get after trying out some new things like Pan Pastels and Mica powder, I am even pondering getting some needle felting tools as well! Along with drinking lots of tea, eating lots of cake, there was of course lots of crafting. Here are all the backgrounds and projects I made:

I even sold some of my artwork (that is a first for me!) and I hear it is going to be hung up in someone's new craft room in the next few weeks. I had a really great time and I am hoping all my craft pals did too. I am tired after such a busy few days and I am sure my pals are too after their long journey's home. Half term is over but only 5 weeks until Easter...wonder what my self challenge could be......well, there is plenty of time to think it over!!

Being Square #7

I am back with another in my self challenge for half term. Still 5" x 5" square, this time the background was created using my Gelli plate.

Three colours and three stencils plus a little bit of combed detail too.

My finished page with another of my hand drawn girls:

Being Square #6

So far so good... I am sticking to my self challenge. The background was created by collaging book papers and tissue tape. Then over stamping with some Dylusions stamps. I used Inktense blocks to paint in the colours.

Being Square #5

I am back with the fifth of my self challenge pages and today my drawing ended up looking very much like me! We have so many 'me's' don't we...well this is teacher me! For the background I used a range of stamps, really puddled on a Dylusion ink spray and let it dry naturally. Then applied some worn lipstick crackle paint through a stencil.

Being Square #4

I am back with my forth page in my self challenge 'Being Square'. This background was created using dye based inks, a couple of stencils, a baby wipe and of course stamps. A super quick technique which I might share with my crafty pals next weekend at our annual Craftathon! Then of course came my image and a sentiment from a set of Dylusions stamps.

Being Square #3

A bit late in the day but still day three. This 5" x 5" art journal page was created with dry brushing 2 different coloured acrylic paints. Then some layers of washi tape, some stamping with Staz on Black and also some teal acrylic paint stamped too. The hand drawn image was cut out and collaged on top of the blackground.

I am going to enter this page into the Raise the Bar challenge which is Free at Last!

Being Square #2

Anyone who read my post yesterday will know that I have set myself a little challenge to create a art journal page everyday (while it is half term) and I have decided to use 5" x 5" square. Here is today's page, using dye based inks and stamping for the background and I decided to draw my image on book paper.

Being Square #1

I have so been struggling with my mojo of late, what with one thing or another. I am on half term starting today and spent half a day at my craft table not feeling hugely inspired with my makes and certainly wasn't going to blog them! So off I went to Life Book and watch the video interview with Julie Balzer, what a fantastic lady! She talked about embracing mistakes and that the only way you find perfection is embracing imperfections! So I have set myself my own little challenge. Can I create and blog every day of half term?

My first art journal page for my Being Square series as I have decided to do something different a 5" x 5" page.

Yes, there are plenty of imperfections and my tissue drawing nearly had a sticky end, but I managed to patch things up and here is my first being square page.

Inky...

card using new Flannel Kaleidocolor ink pad I made on the weekend. Stamped with some newly carved stamps and then spritzed some water to create that nice mottled effect. I am struggling with my mojo at the moment, as I have been battled bugs and viruses one after the other. I do hope it perks up soon! Bring on half term!

From Cardmaking to Art Journaling is launched today. I use lots of different patterned papers and stamps to create a scene. I have added a linky this month so you can share you work that was inspired by the lesson.

CCAYR # February Challenge

Yes, February already! This month over at Christmas Cards All Year Around we want to see a Red and White card which includes hearts and flowers. I found this quite a tall order so looking forward to seeing how everyone interprets the theme. In the end I did find a non-Xmas stamp, Christmas sentiment that I thought fitted the brief  and went very CAS!
