Krafting...

All the elements of this card are creating using Kraft card for this weeks Allsorts challenge. I used the colour combo from A Mixed Media Colour challenge as the basis for my design and I used these products (as well as Timber Brown Staz on ink).

The background panel is layered up with traditional tan acrylic paint, then distress stains which were wiped through stencil. Then more stencil work this time with sable acrylic paint. Finally some stamping with modern red paint.

I am also going to enter it into the Pile it on challenge of Anything Goes!

Alcohol and...

a straw! Nothing nicer that an ice cool drink in this summer weather (though dare I say it has just started to pour with rain here, not that that would stop me of course...LOL!). But that is not what I used on my card, I am talking alcohol inks, glossy card and a straw to create a background.

I used ideas from my Little Things workshop to this time make a card. This card was created for the Freshly Made Sketches and One Stop Craft challenge of flowers and ribbon.

The Little Things # Week 2

I am back with the second project in my summer holidays self challenge and a few crafty pals have signed up to join me. This week, out of the impulse stash purchases came a mini wooden spool (2.5cm by 2.2cm), a canvas sheet, black shrink plastic, a charm and other embellishments. Here is the altered wooden spool I created:

If anyone is interested there is a video tutorial HERE. I am going to enter my project into the Shopping the Stash Challenge: I don't really need another (for me it is stamps and things to alter!)

Under...

the sea. Here is a summer time tag I made for an art swap organised by Kirstin McColloch. It will be winging its way to the USA today.

 First some doodling.

Then painting with Inktense blocks, stamping and shading with pencil crayon.

Die cut tags, added jump rings and beads.

Stamped, coloured and shaped embellishments.

My finished tag.

I am going to enter this tag into the following challenges:
PanPastelUK: Summer Time
One Stop Craft Challenge: Make your own background
Crafty Friends Challenge: Doodling
ALBC: Die-ing for it

The Little Things # Week One

So my summer holidays begin today and I have kick started my self-challenge of 'The Little Things' (ok well I couldn't wait and started last weekend...LOL!). A combo of all things small to fit in a little box to swap with a crafty pal but also an opportunity to use up some of those impulse purchases/not often used stash. So here is my first project a little mini book using some Tim Holtz alpha cards, alcohol inks, heat embossing and some jewellery findings.

I do have a video tutorial over on my Vimeo account if anyone is interested in seeing the process I follow and me waffling on about the heat in the UK...LOL!

Those Impulse...

buys and bargains. Well, I am sure I could do something with that moments! I am not the only one who does it I am sure (well I hope not anyway...LOL!)? I am counting down the weeks until the summer holidays (2 by the way) and have been thinking of what crafting fun I can get up to. My self-challenge is to use some of those impulse buys and bargains to make some projects that fit into a small paper mache box. Not wanting to be alone in this quest I have challenged some crafting pals over at the Craft Bubble forum and I am in the process of making little kits from my stash for them to be able to participate too (sharing in my craft purchase folly...LOL!). We are hoping to swap our boxes of little trinkets at the end. My self-challenge 'It is the Little Things'.

Do you have stash like this? Well, perhaps you can join my little self- challenge and use up some of your crafting impulse purchases! Watch this space for the first 'It is the Little Things' project and inspiration. Please leave me a comment and let me know I am NOT the only who does these things!
