29 and 36

I was able to link my 29Faces projects with week 36 of the documented life project. This week the theme is black and white. Here is my scribbly sketched faces using pen and black pencil crayon. I also sneaked in a couple of PaperArtsy Ellen Vargo stamps.

29 Face Begins.

It is the start of another round of 29 Faces. I don't like to sound defeatist on day one but with the new school term beginning today I am back at work, granted only part time. It is still going to be a bit of a stretch to get all 29 Faces done but you never know, I may be able to rattle lots out on my days off! Ayala wants all those joining in to be brave and I intend to be (well most of the time but I may jump back to safety at some point in the month):

So with the phrase 'but never dared' in mind here is my first face.
Only in pencil and also super tiny twinchie (2" x 2") art.

Sunday, 31 August 2014

I have some super exciting news and can finally share it! Crikey it has been a torturous few months... I have officially become a PaperArtsy stamp designer. Head over to the PaperArtsy blog to see the launch of my first two stamp design in detail. But here is a little peak of a couple of projects:

The first set ECL01 is very feminine with a lacy theme and the second set ECL02 is based on Nordic Christmas knits. Both have a simple graphic style/feel and would work perfectly for CAS or what I call arty cards but are equally as handy to have in your stash for mixed media projects.

I will be sharing more projects I have created using my new PaperArtsy Eclectica stamp range over  the coming weeks both here on my blog and of course over at PaperArtsy.
All new release stamps are now available from your favourite PaperArtsy retailer.

Week 35 'But Never Dared!'

Yep, another page in my documented life journal. This week's theme is to drawing a face. Well that was right up my street. Though thinking about the upcoming 29 Faces in September Ayala is trying to encourage everyone to step out of their comfort zone with their artwork. I didn't sketch in pencil today and it is all done in pen/plus the shading, I coloured with Gelatos. You will noticed I sneaked on a couple of Sara Naumann's new stamps too.

See what Ayala says:

I know it isn't quite September yet but decided to get into that way of thinking now! I know I won't keep up with 29 Faces this time because of the start of the new school term but going to do as many as I can and keep the phrase...'but never dared' in my head.

Sara Naumann Tile Tutorial

As I promised I am back again tonight with another full tutorial of one of the projects I made for PaperArtsy Sara Naumann stamp launch on Monday evening. Tonight I am using this set:
So here is how I made my little board positive affirmation tile.
1. I cut 9 cm square piece of PaperArtsy grey-white board. Painted with two coats of Snowflake Fresco paint and also did some stamping using Black Archival ink. Then came a coat of Gloss Glaze, which I stamped into using three of the images from the new stamp set.

2. Once completely dry I added a layer of Zesty Zing Fresco paint, left for about 30 seconds to start drying and the wiped back with tissue/baby wipe. Translucent paints work best as you don't loose any of the slight gloss and any background images.

3. I pulled my card together by playing with 3rd and 4th generation ink and stamping using quote. As I love my background so much cut out the quote so as not to cover my tile up. Also painted and stamped some little Prima wooden flowers. Made by own leaves my painting smoothy card with Hey Pesto and doing some more stamping. I coated all my embellishments and the quote with a thin layer of Gloss Glaze. The little resin bird was pastel pink but I covered it with a coat of Little Black Dress Fresco paint to match the colour palette.

My finished positive affirmation tile stood on a little wooden mini easel.

All new release stamps are now available from your favourite PaperArtsy retailer.
I do hope you will hop over to the PaperArtsy blog to see more fabulous launches this week they go right through until Sunday 31st August.

Sara Naumann Launch Night!

There are some fantastic new products being previewed over at PaperArtsy this week. Tonight sees the launch of Sara Naumann's new stamp plates and I was lucky enough to be asked to make some projects as part of the launch. Of course that also meant I got to play with some fabulous new stamp plates! I have 3 projects to share and you can see them all on the blog tonight, along with some beautiful creations by Sara herself but over the next 2 nights I will be sharing detailed tutorials for two of them here on my blog.
Tonight I use this new stamp set:
Here is how I made my arty easel card:
1. I die cut a simple easel card using PaperArtsy Smoothy.

2. Used 3rd and 4th generation Black Soot Distress Ink to start to create background.

3. Then some more stamping this time with Black Archival, again creating shading using 1st/2nd/3rd generation ink.

4. Now came some stamping with paint and I used a brand new limited addition JOFY Fresco Paint called Cherry Red. I rotated the image and stamped four times to create this sun burst.

5. I wanted to create my own washi tape/border by cutting 1.5cm strips of Smoothy card and painting with another colour from new limited addition set called Turquoise.

6. I also used Turquoise Fresco paint to layer stamping onto my background.

7. To complete my washi tape border I stamped the dotty image from the set using Black Archival ink.

8. To make up my card I again added some 3rd/4th generation DI ink to create border then layered up all my elements to make my final easel card. The little typewriter key embellishment is by Prima and I added a few black wire curls too.

All new release stamps are now available from your favourite PaperArtsy retailer.
I do hope you will hop over to the PaperArtsy blog and I will be back again with another tutorial tomorrow night using Sara Naumann's fabulous new designs.

The Documented Life Project

We are on Week 34 and the theme is all about numbers significant in some way to your week. Well, yesterday was a crazy day all about plums...LOL!! So today thought it was a perfect subject for this weeks page. I am going to enter my journal page into the current Anything Goes theme over at Crafty Calender.
