Letting Go

Here is a picture of 3 canvases I am working on as part of Flora's Bowley's Bloom True online course. Been adding more variation and focussed on letting go this week! If anyone has been thinking about taking this course I can say I am really enjoying it so far and you don't need endless hours to keep up with the course.

Week 22 The Documented Life Project

So we all have our good and bad days when it comes to life and also when crafting. I know they say there are no mistakes in art, but never quite convinced by that! Here is this week's page for the documented life, not hugely happy with how it turned out but being brave and blogging it anyway, as it does indeed document one of the not so good days in my crafting journey. And I must also hold onto the phrase, we are our own worst critic!

A deck

of affirmation cards. This was a little exercise Flora Bowley set us, she said use up any left over paint and write down words important to you. I decided to use go down the mixed media route and I am really pleased with how they turned out. I coated them in gloss gel medium again and stamped into them, it is so hard to pick it up on camera but the effect is really great.

Week 21...

of the documented life project and this week the theme is embroidery or thread. I decided to hand stitch over at PaperArtsy background stamp. As the sewing box was out I also added some buttons and trim.

Starting to Bloom

I have signed up to Flora Bowley's Bloom True course and so far I am having lots of fun, with some really thought provoking exercises. Here are the fruits of my week one labours which are all works in progress until the 5 weeks of the course are done:

My intuition told me to add some paint to a third canvas and start with the cool colours!

Arty Card

I made this arty card for a pal who started a new job and moved home/cities all in the same week. Layered up some acrylic paints using a roller and stencils. As well as some stamping of course!

Now that is...

a challenge! This week over at The Documented Life the theme is to try something new with a stamp. As a lover of stamps and stamping I have done all sorts so a new technique was going to take a bit of research. As luck would have it I found a technique on Pinterest which fitted the bill, stamping into gloss gel medium. My journal page was created using acrylic paints and some stamping too. Then to seal it all and finish it off I painted on the thickish layer of glass gel medium and stamped into it. Once dry it created a fab textural layer to my page. I definitely will be doing this one again.

My finished page which I designed with flowers as Effy Wild has a art journal challenge on her forum with the theme flowers. I am also going to share my page over at AJED and Paint Party Friday.

A True...

act of kindness. Week 19 over at the documented life project was to journal a random act of kindness. Well, my story unfolds as I offered up some of my art work to the first person to comment on my RAK over in a Facebook group. The lovely person who was first to comment decided she didn't want me to send it to her but a friend she though would enjoy the surprise. Now that is a true act of kindness indeed!

I am going to share my journal page over at Art Journal Journey with the theme 'circles' and Allsorts as I used butterfly washi tape to create the background to the page.

Paris anyone?

This month over at Mix It Up monthly the theme is cafĂ©/coffee and  a colour scheme. As luck would have it a craft pal over at Craft Bubble set us a 'travel' theme and so I managed to tie in the 2 projects. I painted using Fresco paints and also used a couple of Faber Castell Big brush Pitt Pens. The quote is from the film Sabrina by the beautiful Audrey Hepburn.

I am also going to share my painting/collage over at AJED.

Paint Party!

Here is another piece of art work to share with you. I started it over the Easter holidays but just managed to finish it off the last day or so after a busy few days back at work.

I am going to share this over at Paint Party Friday.
